Futures Flow

Free COT report tools and data sources

Start with CFTC source reports if you need original data, or a chart interface if you need an easier way to explore positions. Free access varies by provider and can change. This guide is published by Futures Flow; provider descriptions were checked on November 1, 2026.

What is the authoritative free source?

The CFTC publishes the original COT reports and historical files. Source downloads are useful for auditing observations and building your own calculations. They require you to choose the correct report format and handle data preparation.

Which interfaces can help?

Tradingster describes free COT charts on its About page. COT-Reports.com publishes free and paid access tiers; limits depend on the current plan. Check provider pages for account requirements, historical coverage and export access. Futures Flow publishes educational guides, dated market pages and a report archive.

What should you check before relying on a free tool?

Confirm the observation date, market identifier, units and category definition. Ask whether a displayed index uses a range formula or an empirical percentile. Look for missing weeks and changes to contract coverage. Free access does not establish data accuracy, analytical quality or suitability for a trading strategy.
